Ensemble Multistage

Logo

Operational, seven-member ensemble-based coastal wind, wave, and water level guidance is presented here for the East Central Florida Coast with high resolution in the Indian River Lagoon and Brevard County. These predictions were made by the physics-based ADCIRC+SWAN numerical model using NOAA’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) model, the Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS), and Short-Range Regional Ensemble Forecast (SREF) system.

Welcome to the Coastal Modeling Group (CMG) at Florida Institute Of Technology

Our team consists of enthusiastic, detail oriented undergrad and graduate students led by Dr. Robert Weaver at Florida Institute of Technology. Engaging in a variety of coastal research areas; from dune restoration, dredging, artificial reefs, living shorelines to coastal dynamics modeling and analyses, our principal objective is to bring resourceful solutions to most concerning challenges our coastal community is facing. As a part of the CMG's mission goals, we have delivered the Ensemble Multistage tool as an efficient and integrated wind-circulation-wave forecasting system in support of coastal resilience, hazard mitigation, and decision-making processes.
